Horse-racing track in Moriarty approved

The New Mexico Racing Commission today approved the move of the Downs at Albuquerque from the New Mexico state fairgrounds to the Route 66 town of Moriarty, N.M., about 40 miles east, reports KRQE-TV.

Planned is a 500-acre, $65 million facility at Highway 41 and Interstate 40. That is very close to Highway 333, aka Route 66.

Previous reports indicate that the track could hold races as soon as 2009.

  1. Traffic on Highway 333 is going to increase if developers stick to their promises and build the alleged theme park in Williams, AZ. Although Moriarty is rather far away, it could still be impacted but may take longer to achieve significant deviations.

I hope their is some progross. I own close to 370,000 ft2 of land in that area and any little nuance could result in a exponential increase in land value.
