The historic Saga Motor Hotel in Pasadena, Calif., will match donations to a total of up to $5,000 for The Motels of Route 66 documentary and book project, filmmaker Simon Cantlon said.
Cantlon had launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the project, but canceled it three days ago. Instead:
[W]e have streamlined the fundraising efforts with a newly added donation section on our website utilizing the PayPal Giving Widget, where you can donate directly.
John Rothman, longtime owner of the Saga Motor Hotel on Route 66 in Pasadena, CA has generously offered to MATCH your donation. For every $1,000 in total contributions, John will match those contributions up to $5,000. The total amount of $10,000 will fund our initial production trip and post-production!
Cantlon will hit the road starting June 14 to begin the project.
