“Blackbird”

Here’s  another musical posting by guitarist Pat Kelley, who’s touring Route 66 with Cow Bop and other musicians. This performance of the Beatles‘ “Blackbird” was taken on the Mother Road, near what appears to be Williams, Ariz.

It reminds me of another memorable performance of “Blackbird” by a Beatle himself, Paul McCartney, during a 2009 concert in Tulsa. Before playing it solo, McCartney explained the song was inspired by black women in America struggling for equal rights during the 1960s.

During the show, McCartney also mentioned his Route 66 trip with his future wife, Nancy Shevell.
