Route 66 is subject of “America: Fact vs. Fiction” episode

An episode Wednesday of the “America: Fact vs. Fiction” program on the Military Channel will include Route 66 as its subject matter, according to an email from one of the show’s creators.

Joel Sturdivant interviewed “Route 66: The Mother Road” author Michael Wallis as part of the episode.

The 30-minute show, subtitled “Roadside Stories,” will air at 10 p.m. Central on Wednesday on cable’s Military Channel.

This is a summary of the episode:

A whole other story is behind the roads and bridges that cross the United States. On this episode of America’s Facts Vs. Fictions learn a woman was the driving force behind completing the Brooklyn Bridge and Route 66 wasn’t built from scratch.

Sturdivant said the episode also may be bought from iTunes for $1.99 after it airs.

  1. I heard a rumor that Dan Rice from 66-to-Cali will be on it, as well as a great up and coming Route 66 enthusiast named Ian Bowen.

    Oh, and I’ll be there, too!

    Los Angeles certainly is representing – but of course, this is “Fact Versus Fiction” and there is plenty to dispell in terms of Route 66 in Los Angeles, so we had a lot to talk about during our interviews! I’m very much looking forward to the final result!
