Where Cars Land got its inspiration

This video shows how Disney engineers (they’re called Imagineers) traveled Route 66 to research and figure out the right look for a life-size fictional town of Radiator Springs for Cars Land at Disneyland California Adventure.

Route 66 author and “Cars” actor Michael Wallis led the trip about five years ago. My story about that trip is here.

  1. Well I’ve got to say as a Route 66 roadie and have been to Cars Land this year, they did an AMAZING JOB! It was like being in both the movie and on the Mother road at the same time. Can’t wait to go back! I highly recommend it all roadies of all ages.
