An entrepreneur is planning a $30 million, science fiction-themed UFO Hotel in Baker, California, about 50 miles northeast of Barstow, according to a news release.

Luis Ramallo, best-known for Alien Fresh Jerky store in Baker, plans to build the two-story, 31-room hotel shaped like a spaceship.

The UFO Hotel, which is in pre-construction development, will have an alien-themed lobby, spa, nightclub and other attractions, such as Sci-Fi fanatics and guests getting married in alien costumes — on their favorite planet. […]

Room rates at the UFO Hotel will be competitively priced, beginning at around $300 a night – “an incredible bargain for a one-of-a-kind experience,” Ramallo says.

Alien-uniformed employees will use modern touch-screen technology to check guests in. Monitors will show scenes of activity from all around the spaceship.

As guests walk to their rooms, they will be able to twist various dials and hatch handles. If they turn the wrong one, a warning light and siren will flash, just like on an actual spaceship. There will also be unique photo-ops throughout the spacecraft with alien crew members re-charging themselves in pods.

Ramallo says he’s lined up major financing for his project, but he’s launched a $175,000 Kickstarter campaign so others can invest in his hotel and land some goodies.

There’s no word on when construction will begin. However, between the fans of Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, Battlestar Galactica, 2001, and countless other sci-fi television shows and movies, I don’t think Ramallo will have any trouble filling rooms.

The $30 million project will feature 31 rooms on two floors designed within a full-scale alien spacecraft where guests can spend the night in alien-themed rooms and dine in an alien-themed restaurant. (PRNewsFoto/UFO Hotel)

Although Baker isn’t on Route 66, it’s a common stop for gas and grub for Mother Road travelers on their side trips to Las Vegas. Baker is virtually the only town with facilities in the Mojave Desert between Barstow and the Nevada border.

  1. I think its a great idea for the space ship hotel. We are going to start saving our change to maybe be able to come and stay. We are a retired couple wanting to bring our granddaughter, of which we told her about the new space ship hotel. She cant wait. We have stopped by your Alien store several times which we love also, gotten pictures there with our granddaughter. Hope to see you soon. Thank you for making Bakers a better place, which it is already a nice place to stop by on our way through. Getting Excited Rose
