Wife of Chicago Route 66 researcher David Clark dies

Carol Krohn, the wife of longtime Chicagoland Route 66 researcher David Clark, died at age 56 in early September of a cardiac arrest after she endured several other serious health problems, Clark said during a recent Facebook post.

Clark concluded in a post Friday:

My life partner left me at 7:45 a.m. on September 4th, 2015.
But she will never really leave me. Never.

Carol had accompanied David — and their little dogs — to many Route 66 gatherings over the years. They had been married for over 33 years.

Clark wrote the book, “Exploring Route 66 in Chicagoland,” and other volumes that extensively researched the paths and landmarks of Route 66 and the Lincoln Highway in the Chicago area, where he and Carol resided.

Clark also conducted walking tours and presentations about Route 66 in Chicago.

Clark was better-known of the two in Route 66 circles. But Krohn also was passionate about the Mother Road and other historic highways. Talking to them several times over the years, it was easy to see why they became a couple.

  1. My condolences on your loss David. You two were perfect for each other. Hold on tight to your little dog. He can bring you great comfort. God bless you in your grief.
