New Tulsa mural features Bob Wills, Route 66

A new, huge mural at Third and Greenwood in downtown Tulsa pays tribute to Western swing icon Bob Wills and Route 66.

The mural is behind the Legends Dance Hall and Saloon. Map is here.

According to KOTV in Tulsa:

The Pop Museum teamed up with the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Art and Culture for the project.

Justin Baney with Clean Hands Mural Division said, “There’s a couple stages to planning it – rough draft after rough draft to get the perfect, final revision. Then, executing the project usually takes about 20 hours split up after about two days.”

A video report of the project is here:

The mural is less than a block from the Second Street alignment of Route 66 that went through downtown.
