A spaceship on Route 66 in Illinois

WRSP-TV found this oddity on Route 66 in Divernon, Illinois — a former cop, Dave Bentley, who made his own spaceship and parked it in his front yard for the enjoyment of passers-by and tourists.

Check out the video:

The “Earth Patrol” spaceship is part of a diorama featuring Route 66. There’s also a hole in the back of the spaceship where visitors can poke their heads through for a photo-op.

There’s no date of when it was built, but it’s so new, RoadsideAmerica.com doesn’t even list it.

The interesting part is Bentley also built the World’s Largest Covered Wagon that featured an equally large Abraham Lincoln reading a book in the driver’s seat. It also was in Divernon for years, but it eventually was moved to Lincoln, Illinois — also along Route 66.
