Joplin, Missouri, will host a two-day “Fiddlers on the Route” music festival — including the Nashville-based The Road Crew — on June 30 and July 1 in the city’s Landreth Park amphitheater.
The Joplin Convention & Visitors Bureau and Connect2Culture announced the event. Music begins both nights at 5 p.m., and the event is free. Organizers plan to have food booths, a Friday night beer garden and Saturday children’s activities.
The Road Crew has played at many Route 66 festivals and roadie gatherings in the past decade. The band has written and recorded original songs about Route 66, and you can bet the band will play this song during its gig Friday, June 30.
The Road Crew has released two albums of original tunes — “Songs from the Mother Road” and “Under the Neon.”

The other band scheduled for Friday include Hudson’s All Star Hoodoos, a Missouri blues and dance band
On Saturday, the Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic, an energetic youth fiddling show from Saline, Michigan, will do a variety of musical styles.
Patrick Tuttle, director of the CVB, talked to the Joplin Globe about the event:
“Connect2Culture is working to energize a lot of the feeling that people have in town, and CVB is looking for things to bring people to Route 66, so it’s kind of a great partnership. […] We hope that we will attract people that are traveling Route 66 as well as our own community to come out and enjoy great evenings in Landreth Park.”
Organizers hope to make it an annual event.
