Wagoner’s Station in Williams being restored, will be offered for lease

Wagoner's Station, Williams, AZ

The closed Wagoner’s Station on the west side of Williams, Arizona, has been purchased by two men who are restoring it to its Route 66 look before leasing it.

The station at 811 W. Route 66 in Williams is being renovated by Mike Cowan and Bryant McGee, reported the Williams-Grand Canyon News.

The newspaper stated:

“We feel really fortunate to be able to buy it and have the opportunity to restore it back to what it was. It’s the perfect example of a vintage service station along Route 66.

Cowan and McGee plan to restore Wagoner’s back to its original Route 66 vintage look before stopping and allowing whoever leases the building to decide what they want to put in. Cowan said the options are wide-open at this point.

“We don’t want to interfere with the functionality of the building if someone else wants to come in here — it’s the perfect location for say a rental yard — Williams doesn’t have an equipment rental yard for cars or you could do a detail shop or it could be retail or a restaurant,” he said.

According to the newspaper, it was built in 1958 as a Shamrock gas station. It had been owned by the Wagoner family since 1972. It closed in 2016 before McGee and Cowan bought it.

A perusal on the internet revealed the station recently operated as a Union 76 affiliate. Some photos from two to three years ago indicated the station still used analog fuel pumps, and online reviews also showed it was another rare breed — a full-service station.

Anyone interested in leasing the property can call Cowan at (928) 699-2169 or McGee at (928) 699-8537.
