More 1990s videos on Route 66

Anthony Reichardt has posted more than a dozen videos he shot during Route 66 trips in a 1959 Cadillac from 1992 to 1995.

The latest batch includes an interview with Aleene Kay Albro, who co-owned Buffalo Ranch in Afton, Oklahoma, from 1953 to 1997. She died less than two years after this video, and Buffalo Ranch was torn down in 2002.

The footage is interspersed with photos taken by the late Laurel Kane, who collected Buffalo Ranch memorabilia at her Afton Station in Afton.

Reichardt also posted a short video of the Rio Siesta Motel in Clinton, Oklahoma, in 1993. The motel already was abandoned, but most of the buildings and sign still were standing.

Reichardt also posted 1992 footage of the Ludlow Cafe in Ludlow, California. It was closed even that long ago, but it continued to deteriorate for decades until it was torn down last year.

In the video, Reichardt also gives his memories of eating at the Ludlow Cafe when he was a child in 1972.

More of Reichardt’s videos may be viewed at his YouTube channel here.

Reichardt also collects rare or obscure music from 1959 to 1969, mostly inspired by Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound, that he posts on his YouTube channel here.
