Route 66 makes an appearance in Mercedes Super Bowl ad

The Super Bowl ad for the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster takes a cue from the 1969 film “Easy Rider” and Steppenwolf’s hit song from the movie, “Born to Be Wild.”

Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the visual punchline.

The Super Bowl is Feb. 5.

The advertisement is directed by the Coen Brothers, who have helmed a slew of films during the past few decades. That includes the Oscar-winning “No Country for Old Men,” which had a shot or two on Route 66.

The best source to find all the Route 66 and non-66 locations used for “Easy Rider” is here.
