The first episode of “Jim Hinckley’s America — A Trek Along Route 66”

Jim Hinckley's America

Promote Kingman recently released the first in what will be a series of videos called “Jim Hinckley’s America — A Trek Along Route 66.”

The video by MyMarketing Designs was screened a few weeks ago in Kingman, Arizona, and it recently was embedded on the Promote Kingman webpage.

It features local author and Route 66 advocate Jim Hinckley as the host with information about Kingman, nearby attractions and local history.

The 26-minute video crams in information about the early 20th-century Cactus Derby car race, Beale Street, Hotel Beale, Hotel Brunswick, actor Andy Devine, Old Trails Garage, Grand Canyon West, Powerhouse Museum, electric cars, author and artist Bob Boze Bell and more.

Hinckley said in an email he wasn’t 100 percent satisfied with the video, but I found him to be a good host who knows a lot and speaks off-the-cuff well. The latter isn’t easy to do — especially as traffic and trains rush by as you’re talking.

Here’s the video:

According to a news release, here’s more about future episodes:

The second video in the series, currently under development, will profile the Grand Canyon Caverns, a classic Route 66 resort.

The outline for a third video that will highlight the history and attractions along Route 66 in western Arizona is complete. To bring these projects to fruition, funding and sponsors are being sought.
