Belgium Route 66 Association launches website, Facebook page

The Historic Route 66 Association of Belgium announced on its new Facebook page Tuesday that it had launched a comprehensive website, as well.

The association said on its Facebook page:

The aim of the association is to promote Route 66 travel to Belgians and other Europeans by providing information in English, Dutch and French.

The website a timeline of Route 66 history, photographs from the road, a shopping list of Route 66 guides and maps for purchase, frequently asked questions about Route 66, and links to other prominent Route 66 websites and associations. It’s quite useful, and it comes in three languages.

One of the website’s creators is Swa Frantzen, a longtime traveler of Route 66 from Belgium who also owns the first website dedicated to Route 66, built in 1994.

Frantzen gave a fascinating presentation, “Route 66 as Seen Through Europeans,” in 2015 during the Miles of Possibility Conference in Edwardsville, Illinois.

In addition to the U.S.-based associations, there are Route 66 associations in Hungary, Australia, Czech Republic, Japan, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Norway and Great Britain.
