Singer’s music video shot at Albuquerque Route 66 sites

Pop singer Bebe Rexha and country-pop duo Florida Georgia Line recently released a music video shot at two Route 66 sites in Albuquerque.

Rexha’s “Meant to Be” video was released Oct. 23 to YouTube. It’s racked up millions of views and reached the top 10 of the iTunes chart.

Featured in the video are the Grandview Motel and Cafe 66, less than a half-mile from each other on Albuquerque’s west side along Route 66. In the video’s first third, it seems the crew shot footage on the far west side of the city’s Route 66, near Nine Mile Hill.

KRQE-TV talked to the owners of both businesses. First, the Grandview:

The Grandview Motel was built along the iconic Route 66 in the 1940s. The owner still proudly displays neon Route 66 themed signs.

“It’s on 66 and the neons, they always like the neons when I light my neons up,” said owner Leroy Moya.

Moya says the superstars weren’t at their location long, but he still hopes it helps.

“These smaller motels aren’t what they used to be and they’re hard to keep a hold of but that helps with the income,” said Moya.

The owner of 66 Cafe didn’t talk to the station on camera but said he was excited to be a part of the video.

Rexha posted several images from the video shoot on her Instagram account, including this one:
