Mountain Top Tap Room opens in old Rickety Cricket site on Flagstaff’s Route 66

A new bar, Mountain Top Tap Room, recently opened in space once occupied by Rickety Cricket Tap Room in downtown Flagstaff, Arizona.

Flagstaff native Staci Kay talked to the Arizona Daily Sun about her new venture at 10 E. Route 66:

Kay’s new tap room got its start thanks to her friendship with the owner of the previous tenant. Kay, who formerly worked for State Farm Insurance for much of her life, also previously worked at Kingman’s House of Hops, owned by Rickety Cricket owner Terry Thompson.
“Terry, who owns Rickety Cricket, is a good friend of ours. And he brought us the proposal of buying the bar,” Kay said. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.” […]
“We wanted, honestly, to start in a small capacity like this,” Kay said. “The space is a smaller space, but we couldn’t pass up the building. The historic building that this is, it’s amazing.”

Mountain Top Tap Room has 30 beers on tap, including Rickety Cricket brews and from Flagstaff mainstays Mother Road Brewing Co. and Wanderlust Brewing Co.

For a town of just 72,000 people, Flagstaff has become quite a microbrew haven. In addition to the aforementioned Mother Road and Wanderlust breweries, it also has Dark Sky Brewing, Grand Canyon Brewing, Lumberyard Brewing, Historic Brewing and Flagstaff Brewing. It also has the Drinking Horn Meadery.

Rickety’s original microbrewery location sits at 312 E. Beale St. in Kingman, Arizona, just a block north of Route 66.
