Piney River Taproom opens in downtown Waynesville

Piney River Taproom, an offshoot of Piney River Brewing Co. in southern Missouri, opened a few days ago along Route 66 in downtown Waynesville, Missouri.

Jax Welborn, whose Route 66 Art Gallery also is in Waynesville, stopped by and snapped a few photos of it on her Instagram account:

Piney River Taproom at 326 E. Route 66 serves pizza and its own root beer in addition to its impeccable beer. It’s open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

I became well-acquainted with Piney River’s award-winning products when I lived in southeast Missouri for several years. I consider its Float Trip Ale, Cerveza Rio and Black Walnut Wheat as exceptional.

Piney River’s main operations are situated in a huge barn in unincorporated Bucyrus, Missouri. However, I never got down there because it’s in such a remote location; the nearest town of decent size is Houston, Missouri (population 2,081), about 10 miles away.

But downtown Waynesville is situated along the Route 66 and Interstate 44 corridor, which makes it considerably more convenient for most travelers.
