A group of volunteers mostly from the Route Association of Missouri over the weekend made vital repairs and did cleanup at the long-closed Shamrock Court motel near Sullivan, Missouri.
Most of the repairs were to the collapsed subflooring in the office area. The work seeks to make the property more attractive to potential buyers.
The giraffe-stone Route 66 motel, which dates to the late 1940s and has been owned by the Weiland family for nearly 70 years, is for sale.
Not only is work on a historic property satisfying, but volunteers get to see a lot of interesting details and artifacts up close, as these photos and video will show:
