Pulaski County offers playful but serious COVID-19 cautions in a new tourism video

The Pulaski County Tourism Bureau in central Missouri wants people to take the coronavirus pandemic seriously but still wants them to travel Route 66 and to other destinations.

With those things in mind, the bureau released a #DoTheFive video that briefly details five things that can be done to slow the spread of the virus, but with a lighthearted touch.

Here’s the video:

You’ll probably notice in the video Louie Keen, the self-proclaimed mayor of the Uranus, Missouri complex near St. Robert, and frequent sidekick Tiffany Baker on the famous Hooker Cut portion of Route 66.

The video also features Pulaski County Daily News editor Darrel Todd Maurina, Springfield comedian Jeff Houghton and former Waynesville city clerk Carol Welch.

According to a news release from the bureau:

Beth Wiles, executive director, said “We wanted to deliver a chuckle to the folks who gave two minutes of their time to watch our video. The message is serious, though.”
Wiles strongly encourages those who choose to travel during the pandemic to #DoTheFive so we can all #TravelConfidently. She added, “When you are ready for a relaxing vacation in Missouri’s Ozark Mountains choose Pulaski County. There’s more than you thought!”
