Smart cruising on Route 66

The Smart Car Owners of Toronto blog has the story of Rupert Lloyd Thomas and his wife Annette driving a Smart car on all 2,300 miles of Route 66. They got about 50 miles per gallon and had a ball doing it.

By the way, the photograph on the site isn’t identified, but I can tell you it is a rare brick stretch of Route 66 near Auburn, Ill.

  1. Thanks for mentioning our blog. I have put a caption under the photo that you correctly identified. To read more about our tour take a look at the archives for July & August 2005. We covered over 8,900 miles and spent approx $375 US on diesel. We spent last winter reading about Route 66 and it did not disappoint.
