The Kansas City InfoZine reports that the Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation on Friday is considering 23 nominations for the National Register of Historic Places.
Here's one on the Mother Road:
The Henry Schneider Building was an early and long-lived commercial garage on U.S. Route 66 in Springfield, Greene County. The one-story, three-unit brick building was constructed in circa 1928, shortly after the famous interstate highway was established through Springfield. Originally, the front portion housed a Cities Service filling station while the back bays housed commercial garages and other auto-related industries over the years. Today, it remains a highly intact example of the garages/dealerships property type described in the "Historic and Historic Archeological Resources of Route 66" multiple property cover document.
Here is the complete run-down. Other properties listed may be on Route 66 alignments, but nearly all of them predate the road.
