“My Blueberry Nights” is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 16 as the cinema debut of sublime singer Norah Jones. It also stars Natalie Portman, David Strathairn, Rachel Weisz and Jude Law.
However, roadies will find the film by Chinese director Wong Kar Wai notable because of this report from Jazz News:
Shot in New York, Memphis, Nevada, and along the legendary Route 66, the film is an intimate tale of love and self-discovery that features Wong’s trademark visual flair and colorful characters.
The filming locations listed on the IMDb site include just Los Angeles as a possible Route 66 shooting site. The others are in Nevada, Memphis and New York City — all of which are defintely not on the Mother Road.
However, the IMDb data usually is incomplete until the film gains wide release. We’ll see whether “My Blueberry Nights” is filmed on America’s Main Street or whether the filmmakers are just giving it lip service.
