The historic and intricately designed Aztec Hotel in Monrovia, California, was recently put up for sale for $15 million.
According to its LoopNet listing, agent John Faire of Coldwell Banker Commercial Realty can be contacted for a personal showing of the property.
Here’s what the executive summary states:
Hotel has 44 rooms available for services to include a liquor license and 5 retail frontage units that bring in approximately $6k a month. The property sits on 4 parcels with an approximately 58,432 sq. ft. of land and approximately 24,329 SF of building. There is a charming patio area in the rear section with water fountains and a pond, in need of some attention. The building sq. ftg. needs to be measured for Buyers accuracy. The parcels 19, 20, 21,& 22 lead to some confusion as parcels 20 & 21 are the only parcels with the structures two story square footage, the other parcels are parking. There is also a basement sq. ftg. not included in the building sq. ftg. The Lobby is very charming and attached to the banquet room and a large kitchen area. There is also a second restaurant with bar, and offices, bathrooms and staircases. The property is in need of some attention to the interior.
Robert Stacy-Judd designed the hotel in a Mayan Revival architectural style. It opened to the public in the fall of 1925, about a year before U.S. 66 was federally certified.
The Aztech Hotel was designated a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
The building was closed for renovations in 2012 and has remained shuttered since.
The folks at Esotouric, who are really good about keeping tabs on historic buildings in the Los Angeles area, noted earlier this month that the hotel had been put up for sale.
