Old promotional video for Will Rogers Highway Memorials is uploaded

A couple of weeks ago, the Oklahoma Route 66 Association uploaded a 25-year-old promotional video about the Will Rogers Highway Memorials that are sprinkled along Route 66 and the memorials’ namesake.

The association wrote:

In the 1990s, Darrell Ray of Joplin had an idea to help promote the revitalization of Historic Route 66 by reviving one of its nicknames, ‘The Will Rogers Highway’. Utilizing a logo that was officially adopted by the US 66 Highway Association in 1936, the first granite marker tied to this project was installed in Vinita, Oklahoma on October 14th, 1999.

This promotional video was released circa 2000 by Creative Publishing Group of Joplin, Missouri to help promote this new initiative. For more information on this project and Will Rogers’ connection to the Mother Road, check out our website at: https://oklahomaroute66.com/news/the-…

Many thanks to the Rogers County Historical Society for donating the old VHS tape to our Association!
