Six-story mural painted on building in Springfield, Missouri

A six-story mural was recently painted on an apartment building along Route 66 at a prominent intersection in Springfield, Missouri.

KY3 in Springfield reported:

The massive artwork stands on the east side of Jefferson Avenue at St. Louis Street, featuring elements that pay homage to both Route 66 and the region’s outdoor heritage.

The mural depicts a woman hiking alongside native Ozarks wildlife, including a deer, turtle, rabbit, and bobcat, surrounded by local flora.

St. Louis Street holds special significance as part of the original Route 66 corridor that brought travelers through the heart of Springfield. The historic street continues to serve as the venue for the annual Birthplace of Route 66 Festival, celebrating Springfield’s role in the famous highway’s history.

Here is a video from the station’s report:

The mural was part of the Overlay Festival earlier this month. Osiris Rain and Emily Ding created the Route 66 artwork.
