Arcadia Unlimited arcade opening soon in downtown McLean, Illinois

Earlier this month, John Yates provided an update to an arcade project he calls Arcadia Unlimited, located in the downtown square of the Route 66 town of McLean, Illinois.

Arcadia Unlimited is being housed in a century-old building that was once a grocery store. When finished, Yates said it would hold 250 to 300 vintage video games.

And kudos to the neon and other retro elements in the building’s sign.

Yates said he hopes to have his latest venture open to the public by January. Even after it opens, he said other parts of the building will be renovated for different projects.

For the uninitiated, Yates, under his Classic Arcade World umbrella, has acquired several buildings in McLean and placed his collection of video and pinball games in them. He also opened a small hotel in McLean.

Yates also owns the Route 66 Arcade Museum in downtown Atlanta, Illinois.

We published a short story about Yates and his arcade ventures in McLean here in 2012.
