The Range Cafe at 320 Central Ave. in Albuquerque, which previously operated as the Standard Diner, is closing this weekend.
The operators of the Route 66 restaurant said they decided to close that location because the building probably will be sold, reported KOB-TV in Albuquerque. The last day is Dec. 27.
The move comes after Range Cafe scaled back hours at most locations. However, they maintained Tuesday the business is doing fine.
“We want to be clear: This decision is related only to the building and is not connected to the health of our business. Range Cafe remains strong. All of our other locations are open and operating at their regular hours,” the restaurant stated on social media.
Range Cafe stated they will find a place for Central employees who stay with the company.
The Standard Diner along Central closed in 2020 after 14 years along Route 66 in Albuquerque but was quickly converted into a Range Cafe.
The Standard Diner originally was built as a Carothers & Mauldin Service Station that sold Texaco gas and General tires.
It became a classic-car dealership in 1991 before its conversion into a restaurant.
