The little western Arizona town of Oatman is scheduled to hold its annual Sidewalk Egg Fry on July 4. The Mohave Daily News notes that the event is always on July 4, no matter on what day it falls.
Fred Eck of the local chamber provided some tips to those who may be competing:
“Get yourself a fry pan, aluminum foil, magnifying glass, solar panel, anything to help stir up the heat, but no direct fire. Only solar heat is permitted,” he said.
He urged entrants to be creative.
“It’s fun, it’s crazy and the things people do to fry their eggs is just plain entertaining. And above all, it’s free,” Eck continued, but added a word of caution. “However, watch out for the burros, they like to get into the act.”
Now you know what to do. Just make sure you bring some sunscreen for yourself.
