Emily Priddy recently announced that her “Route 66 for Kids” travel guide has been updated for the first time in a decade, and it’s now available as a free download.
The 64-page booklet is available through her blog as a Google document.
She wrote in the new book’s introduction:
Much has changed in the decade since I last updated Route 66 for Kids. Some attractions have closed, others have opened, and still more have changed irrevocably. A few long-shuttered attractions have risen, like the mythical phoenix, from the ashes.
In this, the road’s centennial year, what has not changed is the joy of hitting the open road with a credit card, a cooler full of snacks, and a sense of adventure. Even before the advent of the Pixar film Cars in 2006, Route 66 was a 2,448-mile-long playground filled with all sorts of kid-friendly delights: astronauts and amusement parks; corn dogs and custard; caves and Cadillacs; ziplines and zoos.
Whether you’re heading out for a day, a week, or a month, Route 66 for Kids is designed to help you find the restaurants, motels, museums, parks, and photo ops that will make your family’s Mother Road adventure memorable for all the right reasons.
The first edition of the book dates back to 2003. (Disclosure: I am married to Priddy.)
She stated that Amazon links to the outdated print version of “Kids on 66” will soon be disabled.
