Jobe’s Drive-In restaurant in El Reno, Oklahoma, closed last month, less than two years after the historic Route 66 restaurant was resurrected.
Jobe’s, aka Jobe’s Country Boy Drive-In, announced its closing on June 13 on Facebook.
Days later, Jobe’s announced the property was for sale for $35,000, recipes included.
Jobe’s opened in the fall of 2024 for the first time in almost a decade.
Local contractor Eric Hughes leased the property at 1220 Sunset Drive (aka Route 66) and revived the restaurant after consulting with its longtime previous owner, Robert Sanders, who retired in 2015 after 46 years there.
Hughes even re-created Jobe’s famed charburger, made with a hickory-smoked sauce. Jobe’s dates to 1958.

Sid’s, Robert’s Grill and Johnnie’s Grill also serve an El Reno institution — fried onion burgers, which were developed in the city almost 100 years ago.
