The Web site for the "Cars" DVD is set to have a bunch of new goodies in the coming days of the DVD's Nov. 7 release. One of them that's available now is a 36-page Acrobat file of the film's production notes. A lot of good stuff there.

Review: “Cars” DVD
One of the perks of running a news site is that you get review copies of books, music, etc., before their official release dates. That includes the DVD of the Disney-Pixar summer movie, "Cars," which I received a week before it hits the streets Nov. 7. "Cars" already has provided much publicity for Route 66, … Continue reading Review: “Cars” DVD
“Cars” DVD Web site is up
Although the "Cars" DVD won't hit the streets until Tuesday, Disney-Pixar already has a Web site about it online. The Web site is here. It looks a lot like the "Cars" movie site, except Disney-Pixar added a few more wrinkles, especially games. I can't wait to play the Tractor Tippin' game when it's up and … Continue reading “Cars” DVD Web site is up

Remember the hit movie "National Lampoon's Vacation"? Remember the Griswold family heading west to find misadventures in an ugly station wagon? Here's the original story that inspired it all, written by John Hughes. It's a hoot. Pontiac finds a tourism niche
Deep in this story by the Pontiac Daily Leader is this somewhat startling factoid that ties in to the Illinois Route 66 Hall of Fame & Museum: Karls said that Pontiac has found a tourism niche: coach tours to the Route 66 and Livingston County War museums. In 2005, there were 15 tours; this year … Continue reading Pontiac finds a tourism niche
Route 66 blog roundup 10/11
Jane Genova, Speechwriter-Ghostwriter, makes some observations about Oprah and Gayle's road trip, which included Route 66, and the movie "Thelma & Louise." She says Thelma and Louise, who were fictional movie characters, were a lot more compelling and human than the real-life Oprah and Gayle. The truth hurts. Ouch. Monica and Ben get up-close with … Continue reading Route 66 blog roundup 10/11
Inspiration for Mater is found
Rod Harsh, proprietor of Route 66 TV Online and chairman of the Route 66 Committee of Jasper County, Mo., had been diligently looking for the tow-truck inspiration of the character Tow Mater, voiced memorably by Larry the Cable Guy, in the hit animated movie, "Cars." He found it. The good news is the truck (second … Continue reading Inspiration for Mater is found
