From across the pond

The person who posted this on YouTube is from Turkey, but I'm not sure this version of Bobby Troup's best-known song was shot there. I'm certain it was somewhere in Europe or Eurasia. Regardless, this is a fine performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiiuMLn8XYs

Documentary being filmed about haunted Route 66 sites

A couple that proclaim themselves as experts about paranormal activity recently traveled Route 66 to film a documentary about haunted locations along or near the Mother Road. Patrick Burns and fiancee Marley Gibson began in November their journey in a recreational vehicle for a film titled "Spirits of 66." The couple maintains a website at … Continue reading Documentary being filmed about haunted Route 66 sites

A valentine from Valentine

A video about the upcoming holiday and the Route 66 hamlet of Valentine, Ariz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyCC_lUjeb8 The clip comes courtesy of Historic Seligman Sundries in Seligman, Ariz. The song is by British resident Aaron Phillips, an Elvis impersonator who provided the music for the video.

Shelvis is in the building

I heard a rumor that Elvis Presley actually faked his death and resurfaced in Germany. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48G2KwqxNH0 Seriously, though, it's a good imitation of The King.

Trailer for ‘Tucumcari’

Taking a flute route

I don't think I've ever heard a version of "Route 66" where a flute is one of the main instruments. Manny and Debbie Cortez's sound is novel enough that I can almost overlook his flubbed lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNba4DfOysg

Hello from England

We've put sound clips of British singer Charlese performing "Route 66" in a studio. Here she is, doing the same song at a recent show in Chester, England. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ex9FA95bZ9c

Hello from Oregon

The Mixers Band, based in Oregon, says its sound is a bit hard to define, although I hear jazz, blues and soul. This arrangement of "Route 66" owes a bit to the arrangement of the Brian Setzer Orchestra's version. But The Mixer Band's piano player is pretty special. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPIE2E2zsDg
