The approach to Odell

Here's a video that shows the approach to Odell, Ill., on old Route 66. I didn't know the locals had installed some Burma Shave-style signs there. The second part of the video is the town's restored Odell Station, including a look at all the old automotive equipment inside.

Cruisers on the loose

For travelers who like to explore old trails that are a bit more primitive, Margo Bartlett Pesek of the Las Vegas Review-Journal has a good listing of trails in California's Mojave National Preserve. A portion of Route 66 runs right through it.

Slow-rolling Dutchmen

KSPR-TV in Springfield, Mo., reports about a group of Dutchmen who are taking a road trip down Route 66 in motorized bicycles that seldom exceed 20 mph.
