ALS group finishes its drive on Route 66

According to this report from the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Press, J.J. Bouma's cruise on Route 66 with a fleet of Corvettes to raise awareness and funds for the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, finished up in Santa Monica on Wednesday. Willys Jeep reunion set this weekend in Springfield, Ill.

The Route 66 Hotel and Conference Center in Springfield, Ill., will be the site of the first Willys Jeep reunion this coming weekend. About 700 participate in Arizona’s Fun Run

So much for high gas prices.  The Kingman (Ariz.) Daily Miner reports that about 700 vehicles participated in the Arizona Route 66 Association's 19th annual Fun Run. I don't know whether that's a record, but such healthy participation indicates that people are willing to get their kicks, high pump prices or not.
