Here’s an interesting news brief from the Carthage Daily Press in Carthage, Mo.:
A film crew with Ozarks Public Television was recently in Carthage shooting segments to be part of a forthcoming educational and entertaining hour-long documentary on Route 66.
Carthage highlights included in the project included the Boots Motel, Oak Street railroad overpass, the intersection of Route 66 at Garrison Avenue, and the Jasper County Courthouse.
Brad Belk, executive director of the Joplin Museum Complex leads the project, along with Tommy Pike of the Route 66 Association of Missouri, Tom Carter, and Carthage’s Dick Ferguson, who served as the script’s on-camera historian on local highlights.
The project also included locations in Carterville, Webb City and Joplin.
