Tram tour at Disneyland Paris to be rebranded as Cars Route 66

Interesting news for our French readers: The Studio Tram Tour at Disneyland Paris in France will be redeveloped as Cars Route 66, according to several media outlets that follow developments in the Disney empire.

According to a tweet from ED92 that brings Disneyland Paris news:

“Buckle up and join Cars stars Lightning McQueen and Mater for a fun filled family road trip where you’ll discover natural and mechanical wonders along the legendary Route 66”.

The tweet also stated Cars Route 66 will open by summer 2020.

The website LaughingPlace.com also posted a now-dead link to a Disneyland Paris brochure that gave the same description of Cars Route 66 as above.

The Inside the Magic website states the Studio Tram Tour has been operating at Disney’s park since 2002. It provided this description:

Studio Tram Tour: Behind the Magic allowed guests to get a backstage look at the magic of Walt Disney Studios park while onboard a high-tech tram and listening to the iconic voice of Jeremy Irons.
During the Studio Tram Tour: Behind the Magic, Disneyland Paris guests were able to see full-scale movie sets as well as boneyard props. They even got a close up of Catastrophe Canyon as the tour took a detour, which most certainly lived up to its name.

Inside the Magic also speculated about the forthcoming Cars Route 66 attraction:

It could be similar to the Cars themed attraction, Radiator Springs Racers, located in Disney California Adventure, although right now it’s too soon to tell as Disney has yet to provide more information about this reimagined attraction.

Inside the Magic’s guess probably is a good one. Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure, inspired by the 2006 Disney-Pixar animated film “Cars,” has been a hit since opening in Anaheim in 2012.

The folks at Disneyland Paris probably looked at Cars Land and decided to export it to France. And the number of Route 66 travelers from France is not insubstantial. Businesses on the Mother Road report scores of French people and other Europeans each year.
