The Route 66 Food Truck Park in Springfield, Missouri, under construction will open by Feb. 1, reports the development’s owner.
Kirk Wheeler said the park that will have a full-service bar and gift shop will feature up to 10 food trucks when it opens at 1530 E. St. Louis St. (aka Route 66).
OzarksFirst.com reports:
“I’ve owned property on this street for 20 years and have studied the history of Route 66, and wanted to bring something that’ll help promote the history of the ol’ mother road,” said Wheeler. […] “This community, or this part of town, or this corridor of Route 66 between Glenstone and National will finally have a restaurant. There’s no place to get anything to eat between Glenstone and National Avenue on St. Louis Street, so we’re going to fix that. […] We’ll have 10 different opportunities.”

The food-truck park initially was announced in April, though it was called Birthplace of Route 66 Food Truck Park and Diner at the time.
It sits barely a quarter-mile west of the Best Western Route 66 Rail Haven. So it’s walking distance — on the same side of the street, no less — from that landmark motel.
A similar concept called Fuel 66 opened along Route 66 in Tulsa, but that closed last year — probably because of new competition from the nearby Mother Road Market. Fuel 66 also didn’t have a gift shop.
