Vandal breaks windows in at least a half-dozen Tulsa Route 66 businesses, including Buck Atom’s

A vandal in the early morning hours Friday used a manhole cover and planter box to break at least a dozen windows at least six businesses along the Route 66 corridor in Tulsa, including Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios.

KOTV in Tulsa reported:

They say a man picked up water main hole covers off the street and threw them through about 10 windows with double-pane glass. Tulsa Police Sgt. John Woods said when the man couldn’t find any more covers, he used large pot planters instead. Many of the windows are completely shattered while others only have one of two layers of glass broken. TPD said nothing seems to be stolen, this was just random vandalism.

Buck Atom’s posted several photos of the damage on Facebook:

Owner Mary Beth Babcock posted a follow-up, trying to create lemonade out of a lemon situation:

No arrests have been made, but police are going to check surveillance video to see whether they can get a better fix on the vandal’s identity.

Whoever did it must be a strong guy; those manhole covers and planter boxes are heavy.

UPDATE 3/6/2022: A follow-up report states Brandford Hart, 40, has been arrested on suspicion of damaging eight businesses in the area.

“He was wearing the same clothes he wore yesterday. One of the business owners actually recognized him, followed him down here, called us. We met him inside, he was getting a little rowdy in there. And we took him into custody,” Officer Delmont with the TPD said.

  1. “Random vandalism”? Targeted particular damage to properties. By someone/some people with a grudge/grudges against one or more businesses in Tulsa?

  2. I don’t think that was just random vandalism…This is heartbreaking and unacceptable! What is this world becoming I wonder?! People has no respect at all anymore for anything or anyone. Sad
