Scenes from the TeePee Drive-In’s first screening in more than 20 years

Some photos from the TeePee Drive-In theater’s screening of Halloween-related films were posted on social media.

The movies at the venue in west Sapulpa, Oklahoma, were the first movies shown there in more than 20 years.

You not only get to see the new neon sign at the theater, but the vintage travel trailers that will be used as Airbnb sites:

The operations manager for the TeePee told the Tulsa World newspaper the venue might also screen Christmas-themed movies this year “but nothing has been confirmed.”

Next year, the theater will be open from March through Halloween seven days a week.

The Kante Group, which owns several other historic buildings in Sapulpa, purchased the Tee Pee property in 2021. The ownership group seeks to add 12 vintage trailers, a playground, a dining area and shopping to the property.

The TeePee Drive-In was built in 1950. The last movie shown there before it closed had been in 1999 or 2000.

The theater’s location is 1705 W. Highway 66, on the old Ozark Trail alignment of Route 66. That semi-rural stretch served as the Mother Road from 1926 to 1952 and includes the 1925 Rock Creek Bridge as a landmark.
