Sunflower Station’s reopening will be delayed due to co-owner’s health issues

The reopening of Sunflower Station in Adrian, Texas, once scheduled for this spring, will be delayed while its co-owner recovers from serious health issues.

Kelly Snyder said on a social media post that her husband Jason underwent major surgery on Jan. 1 and encountered some complications, including the need for a colostomy.

Snyder said they instead hope to reopen the former gas station that stands next to the landmark Midpoint Cafe in August.

The Snyders acquired the property in mid-2021. They said a year later they wished to place guest cabins on the back of the property and serve food in the afternoon when the adjacent Midpoint Cafe was closed.

Fran Houser, the former longtime owner of the Midpoint, started Sunflower Station after she sold the restaurant in 2012. She put it up for sale two years later because she wished to travel more to see friends and family.
