Loyola’s Family Restaurant in Albuquerque for sale for $775,000

The historic Loyola’s Family Restaurant in Albuquerque has been put on the market with an asking price of $775,000.

The restaurant at 4500 Central Ave. (aka Route 66) will continue to operate in the interim, reported Albuquerque Business First (subscription required).

Loyola’s is being listed through Absolute Investment Realty. It initially was listed for $1.1 million, but the website for the property shows the pricetag apparently was lowered.

This iconic Nob Hill New Mexican restaurant is ideally located on Central Ave. just east of Washington Street, west of San Mateo, in Albuquerque, NM. The location has excellent visibility, strong traffic counts, and easy access.

The classic diner style building is a turn-key restaurant that has been featured in numerous TV shows and movies such as Breaking Bad. The business has operated at this location for over 35 years and is a beloved, well-established destination known by locals and visitors alike.

In addition to a rare opportunity to own this landmark restaurant, the business is also available for sale. With a loyal customer base, strong community presence, and unbeatable street exposure, this is a turnkey opportunity for an owner-operator or investor.

According to property records, the restaurant was built in 1958. Loyola’s was founded over 40 years ago by Loyola Baca, who died in 2010, but her family carried on.

In addition to “Breaking Bad,” the eatery has been used in scenes in “Better Call Saul,” “In Plain Sight,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” “Stalked by Your Ex” and “A Price to Pay for a Pretty Face.”

Gil’s Thrilling (and Filling) Blog approvingly wrote about Loyola’s:

Loyola’s Family Restaurant is an anachronism, a throw-back to the days when Route 66 (now Central Avenue) bisected Albuquerque, then a more intimate, close-knit city. In some ways Loyola’s is a relic because its genuinely friendly service and wholesome food truly elicits return visits and the type of patron loyalty that has all but evaporated with the onslaught of corporate chains. Loyola’s is the type of restaurant where your coffee (Farmer Brothers) is never allowed to cool down too much because faithful servers replenish it at about the time your cup is half full. That’s how attentive the wait staff is, but their secret is being attentive and personable without being intrusive and hovering.
