The nearly century-old DeCamp Station roadhouse south of Staunton, Illinois, is on the market with an asking price of $415,000.
Masinelli Real Estate in Staunton is listing the property at 8767 State Route 4, the original Route 66 alignment in that area.
It stated this about the bar and restaurant, which was also known for years as DeCamp Junction:
5.5 Acres with a Restaurant, Bar, Gaming Area, Lighted Baseball / Softball field, as well as two volleyball courts. Your chance to own a piece of Staunton history and one of the most unique spots around!
The roadhouse is the only surviving structure from a long-ago coal-mining settlement.
According to Route 66 Times, the former Riddle Store at the site became the Duda Tavern in 1931, offering tourist cabins, dancing and gambling.
According to one source the original small building here was built from a kit ordered from the Montgomery Ward catalog. A couple of additions were added later. First was a living quarters added to the back of the building and later a second floor was added to the building to accommodate guest or boarding rooms.
Decamp Junction was inducted into the Route 66 of Illinois Hall of Fame in 2001.
