Sapulpa City Hall gets colorful new monument commemorating its links to Route 66

The City Hall in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, recently received a vivid new monument celebrating the town’s links to Route 66,

The big Route 66 shield in front of the property was paid for with a grant from the Oklahoma Route 66 Commission as part of the highway’s centennial this year.

City Hall in Sapulpa is at 425 E. Dewey Ave. (aka Route 66).

KRMG radio in nearby Tulsa reports the 6-foot-tall sign contains images of the Tee Pee Drive-In theater, the famous bronze buffalo statue, the 60-foot gas pump at the Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum and the century-old Rock Creek Bridge.

About 40 other Route 66 monument signs — each designed with elements unique to that town — have been installed or soon will be.
