The public is invited to attend the official groundbreaking for the Kingman Route 66 Nature Trail on Nov. 7 in the parking lot at Third Street and Andy Devine Avenue (Route 66) in Kingman, Arizona.
The event schedule includes:

- 5 p.m.: Community celebration featuring live music, food and a beer garden
The Kingman Route 66 Nature Trail is a community-driven initiative fully funded by a grant from the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona and community-raised funds.
Over 90 community members have registered to volunteer as Friends of the Route 66 Nature Trail for future planting and maintenance.
Bringing together native plant expertise and community spirit, the design team consists of local volunteer professionals working alongside Vision Landscaping, which will handle professional installation.
The project’s goals include:
- Educational Corridor: Establish an ethnobotanical walkway along Historic Route 66 to educate residents and visitors on native plants and their traditional uses.
- Downtown Beautification: Revitalize a prominent stretch of the Mother Road, creating an authentic and welcoming Kingman experience.
- Environmental Sustainability: Build a drought-tolerant microclimate that fosters diverse native plant growth while offering a cool sanctuary for local pollinators and wildlife.
This initiative represents a community collaboration brought to life by Kingman Main Street, representation from the Hualapai Cultural Center, Golden Valley Botanicals, Kingman Powerhouse Kiwanis, Cerbat Garden Club and Friends of the Route 66 Nature Trail, in partnership with the City of Kingman.
