Taylor’s Dairy Joy restaurant in Lebanon, Missouri, announced its closure in late May, a few weeks after the owners put the business up for sale.
The Facebook account for the restaurant stated:
Its been a long 60yrs and it it bittersweet, but after a great time in the Lebanon Community, Taylors Dairy Joy is closed. Please look for Taylors Food at a local restaurant in town!! Facebook updates will be coming soon! Thank you to Everyone who has served behind the counter or in the kitchen at Taylors Dairy Joy!
Gary Sosniecki, a member of the Lebanon-Laclede County Route 66 Society, added some historical context about the eatery:
Taylor’s Dairy Joy was believed to have descended from Alexander’s Dairy Joy, originally on Route 66 east of Conway until closing in 1958. New owners moved it to West Commercial and Springfield Road in Lebanon in 1964. Eventually, it moved back to Route 66 next to Wrink’s Market.
In April, Taylor’s announced it was for sale for $145,000. Ozarks Alive! initially reported that the owners want to retire.
It appears, however, that the Century 21 Commercial online listing has been removed.
