Production notes from the “Cars” movie

The Web site for the "Cars" DVD is set to have a bunch of new goodies in the coming days of the DVD's Nov. 7 release. One of them that's available now is a 36-page Acrobat file of the film's production notes. A lot of good stuff there.

Review: “Cars” DVD

One of the perks of running a news site is that you get review copies of books, music, etc., before their official release dates. That includes the DVD of the Disney-Pixar summer movie, "Cars," which I received a week before it hits the streets Nov. 7. "Cars" already has provided much publicity for Route 66, … Continue reading Review: “Cars” DVD

An explanation about the Spooklight?

Paul A. Roales has studied the tri-state phenomenon called Spooklight, or the Hornet Ghost Light, for decades. His conclusion: The light is caused by the headlights of cars from nearby Route 66. You can read about his findings here. Roales seems like he debunks the supernatural angle of the phenomenon pretty convincingly. (Hat tip to … Continue reading An explanation about the Spooklight?

Western Ave., has been around only five years, but he's a tireless champion of the Mother Road. The Daily Oklahoman … Continue reading A look at the Western Trail Trading Post

It looks a lot like the "Cars" movie site, except Disney-Pixar added a few more wrinkles, especially games. I can't wait to play the Tractor Tippin' game when it's up and … Continue reading “Cars” DVD Web site is up

John Ford, associate editor of the Neosho (Mo.) Daily News, writes a column called "Whirled Peas." In this week's column, he writes about his encounter a few years ago with the tri-state area's famous Spooklight that's a few miles off Route 66. Looking west, we saw a light in the trees where no light was … Continue reading More Spooklight encounters

A group of people on a LiveJournal community site called Found Photos looks for unwanted photos at antique stores and goodwill shops and posts them on the site. The results range from the mundane to a moment in time from a long-ago era. It's a fascinating site. One contributor, Zinger, tells about about the latest … Continue reading Found photos from Route 66
