This was during Eric Clapton's Tulsa period, in which all his road musicians were from Tulsa. This song was written by a Tulsan, too, by the name of J.J. Cale.

A song from the road
Laura Meyer sings a song, "The Road," parked in her car off Route 66 in Tucumcari, N.M. She'd just finished a show in Kansas City and was heading back to Los Angeles for another gig. According to her MySpace site, she has an album coming out next month.

A YouTube poster named Valvagia makes crude animation videos of a stick character named Mr. Man. Valvagia just posed Mr. Man's interpretation of John Mayer's version of "Route 66." Be on the lookout for the lighter scene.

Rocking Rockinghams
The sound's a bit muddy, but this rockabilly version of "Route 66" by The Rockinghams is quite good. It's also worth seeing just to see one guy cutting a rug in the middle of the video.
