History of the “Patel motels”
Although there is a link to the Route 66 Pulse newspaper on the side of this site (and vice versa), I don't often link to their stories because there's a lot of redundancy there. Route 66 News often reports news on the Mother Road first because the Internet allows nearly instantaneous coverage; Route 66 Pulse … Continue reading History of the “Patel motels”
Review: “Dinosaurs Across Route 66” comic
Many Route 66 aficionados are, to put it gently, a little long in the tooth. So many of them fret about whether there will be enough young people interested in the Mother Road to keep it viable in the future. That's why many roadies rejoiced at the 2006 release of Disney-Pixar's animated movie, "Cars," which … Continue reading Review: “Dinosaurs Across Route 66” comic
Route 66 comic includes a tour
I received an e-mail from Phil Yeh, creator of the newly published "Dinosaurs Across Route 66" comic book. It looks like he's doing more than just publishing a salute to the Mother Road. Yeh said: I am planning to cover much of old Route 66 from January to April in 2008 and would love to … Continue reading Route 66 comic includes a tour

Hampton Inn was the sponsor nearly five years ago. It will participate, but won't be a major … Continue reading Route 66 Caravan returning in 2008
Good choice
The residents of Pulaski County, Mo., were asked to choose the cover of its tourism bureau's brochure. According to the Waynesville Daily Guide, the cover that spotlighted Route 66 won by a 2-to-1 margin. You can see the cover image here, which will undergo some minor revisions before going to press.
Route 66 has a second newspaper
During the National Route 66 Festival in Clinton, Okla., I briefly met Jim Michalec and his business partner, Kristine Ramey, of the Route 66 Advertiser. I wasn't as sociable as I could have been because I was half-gassed from working at the Ray's Motel preservation project. But I had enough lucidity to ask for complementary … Continue reading Route 66 has a second newspaper
