Another vintage Route 66 neon sign restored in Kingman

Another original neon sign from Route 66 in Kingman, Arizona, recently was restored, and the Desert Drugs sign now stands on the Mother Road many years after it was taken down.

Jim Hinckley wrote a few days ago on Facebook:

The Graves family (Elmer and Craig) have jumped on the Route 66 Association of Kingman band wagon and with assistance from Legacy Signs, restored this historic gem from the old Desert Drug that was located on the corner of Third Street and Andy Devine Avenue. The restored sign is on display at the downtown post office on Third Street and Andy Devine Avenue. This is the second sign restored by the Graves family. The Promote Kingman neon night walking tours of the historic business district just got more interesting. Historic photo courtesy the Mohave Museum of History & Arts. Now, we just need kiosks to accompany the signs.

Hinckley said the sign slows in green and red at night. This vintage photo from 1951 shows the Desert Drugs sign, in the left foreground, of eastbound Andy Devine Avenue (aka Route 66).

The other sign the Graves family restored was a 1930s-era Packard sign at the Old Trails Garage.
